The 5th KLISC International Conference – Facing The Future Together

The 5th Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) International Conference was successfully held from 12 to 14 November 2025 at the Emara Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi. The event, themed “ -gether,” brought together librarians, information professionals, researchers and academics from across Kenya, the wider African region and beyond. It provided a vibrant platform for discussing emerging trends, sharing research findings and exploring the evolving role of libraries in a rapidly changing information landscape.

Across the three days, participants engaged in keynote speeches, paper presentations, workshops and panel discussions that explored issues such as digital transformation, open scholarship, data services, technology adoption and inclusive access to information. The sessions encouraged open dialogue and collaboration, allowing delegates to learn from one another and to reflect on new ways of strengthening library and information services in their institutions.

Networking played a significant role throughout the conference, with attendees forming new partnerships and renewing existing professional relationships. Many participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to exchange ideas face-to-face and to identify areas for future collaboration. The spirit of working “together,” as highlighted in the conference theme, was evident in the conversations and connections that took place.

As the conference concluded, participants left with renewed motivation and practical insights they can apply within their organisations. KLISC expressed gratitude to all presenters, delegates and partners for contributing to the event’s success and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering continued dialogue and professional growth within the library and information community. The consortium also noted that conference materials and proceedings will be shared to support ongoing learning and implementation. Overall, the 2025 conference marked an important milestone in the shared effort to strengthen information services and face the future collectively.
