On Friday, September 29th, 2023, the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC) hosted the ORCID SENSITIZATION AND ADVOCACY WORKSHOP for Research Directors and Heads of research of Universities at the Nairobi Safari Club Hotel. This marked the second phase of the project, designed to foster greater ORCID adoption within their member institutions. Attended by 15 University Heads of Research or their representatives, this event aimed to equip participants with the skills to act as ORCID ambassadors and influence institutional adoption from a policy perspective.
The workshop effectively fulfilled its objective of advocacy through Research Director’s to influence mass adoption of ORCID IDs by researchers. The project team shared innovative approaches to facilitating the creation of ORCID accounts for scholars in the respective universities.
As the project progresses, the subsequent training phase will involve system librarians and ICT officers from the various universities.
